About

Eugene Hammiel is equally gifted in drawing, painting and sculpture.  His work is inspired by the centuries of knowledge, skill, and elegance of the great masters.  He works in a variety of mediums including graphite pencil, colored pencil, pen & ink, charcoal, watercolor and acrylic.  My artwork is a reflection of who I am.  I work in a spontaneous manner until I have built up a surface on a support by texturing, layering, and painting.  Often repeating this process many times.  As the work develops, it becomes more interesting to me.  He enjoys a variety of stimulus for his work- still-life, landscapes, the human figure.  In his abstract work, he often uses repeated marks, painterly gestures, pattern, transparencies, and has a acute sense of color.  He studied art at The Art League School ( the torpedo factory ) in Alexandria, Va. for 14 years.
